With consistent attention to detail in every aspect of the project we can create truly refined aesthetics
An interview with Viereck Architekten, Austria
What makes your winning project Lakeside Chalet one of a kind?
Starting with the client`s desire to build a holiday home for his family, the biggest challenge was to place the building(s) in a subtle way on this very steep terrain. Inspired by the North facing slope towards the lake, we decided to divide the spatial program into individual buildings, which shall be placed like sculptures and linked together into a lush and beautifully designed garden. Those so-called objects are a Chalet, which serves as the residence, a Bath House with bathroom and kitchen facilities, as well as the Boat House and jetty, which defines the lakeshore.
What did you learn from this project?
With consistent attention to detail in every aspect of the project we can create truly refined aesthetics.
Also was it very interesting to excavate the boathouse foundations below the lakes water level.
What are you working on at the moment?
We are currently working on a large number of projects, from small to bigger ones. Most mentionable would be an Eco Resort at Maldives, an Office campus entirely built in timber, a student campus, and the tallest building in the state of Styria, reaching to 101 Meters once built, as well as some Interior Designs for Hotels and private clients.
As the industries as well as clients are very slowly heading towards sustainability and ecological building technologies, we as Architects are on the forefront and therefore have the duty to educate and execute environment- friendly buildings and to reduce the carbon footprint of those..
What is your driving force?
The continuous satisfaction of our returning clients which seek for individual, out of the box and timeless solutions, in both Architecture and Interior Design.
Any ideas you think should be front and center in the minds of architects?
As the industries as well as clients are very slowly heading towards sustainability and ecological building technologies, we as Architects are on the forefront and therefore have the duty to educate and execute environment- friendly buildings and to reduce the carbon footprint of those.
