Urban Living Milano

Elena Salmistraro used her unmistakable trait to portray the way she sees Vitra and to explore the topic of Urban Living – 2019 Home Stories for Spring theme – by playing with the Colour & Material Library of the Swiss Company and developing the interior design of an exquisite location such as the historic furniture showroom Spotti Milano. The result is intense, rich of hues, signs and references, which are not mere cultural hints, but rather a contemporary reinterpretation, a radical and instinctive experiment. The experiment is repeated in the four living, dining, study and play areas, which blend together perfectly to generate a new interior concept which is fresh, lively and never boring, just like the city that is being represented. Milan enters our living spaces, there is no inside or outside, there is no difference or barrier between home and the city: it is a unique environment, which represents and unites all its residents.

What makes this project one-of-a-kind?
This project is unique in its kind because it is the visualization of a dream, as an aspiration, a hope that becomes reality. Its strength, from my point of view, is the ability to enclose many ideas inside: from the modern reinterpretation of the typical Milanese Palladian in the floor, to the orange grandeur that fills the walls, just like a Milanese spring sunset. Everything is made even stronger, by the perfect combination between the dreamlike setting and the concreteness of the Vitra furnishings that are the founding element of the composition as well as cornerstones of modern design.
