The opening gala evening with its design award giving ceremony represents the main event of the Month of Design Festival. The national design awards have been granted at the Month of Design since 2003. This year, for the first time, the regional awards for inte-rior design, fashion, and product design will be given as well. These awards aim to criti-cally evaluate the achievements of the profession, and to draw attention to the design potential and creative power of the entire region of South-East Europe.

Sustainable Cities and Communities; innovation, design, and design management strategies for sustainable future

The International Scientific Conference A.L.I.C.E organised by the Faculty of Design is a unique opportunity for designers, architects, researchers, academics, and professionals to share the latest knowledge related to sustainable cities and communities. The conference will be focusing on sustainable design, green design innovations, energy planning of cities and neighbourhoods with an emphasis on a balanced approach to environmental, socio-economic, and technical aspects of sustainability. The themes include innovative approaches related to education and training in the field of sustainable development. The conference aims to increase the awareness of the state-of-the-art strategies and best practices around the world in order to integrate sustainable development approaches into design practices.

An all-day conference intends to encourage the innovative practices in woodworking industry. There will be some woodworking professionals discussing topical issues ad-dressing the development of innovative woodworking in Slovenia and wider region. The following topics will be discussed at the conference: research and development projects, adequate human resources, links between business and education, primary wood processing in the region, technological innovations in the field of woodworking, business opportunities of high added value, woodworking policies, wooden constructions, design and branding in order to establish more competitive markets.

Interior 180 ° involves short presentations given by the pioneering and successful archi-tects working in the field of interior design. Architectural tables comprise individual business talks among interior suppliers, archi-tects, and investors financing interior renovations. These architectural tables are sup-posed to serve as an effective medium providing useful exchange of expert opinions, in-formation and advice.
