Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, Bucharest, Romania

Melania Dulămea is a romanian architect, professor, and researcher at the Ion Mincu University of
Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest, where she directs the Department of Basics of Architectural Design and is a member of the Doctoral School of Architecture. A UAUIM graduate in architecture,
she holds a master’s degree in urban planning and a PhD in cognitive architecture. Her work investigates the relationship between space, perception, the city, and neuroscience. She advocates for the essential role of context – in all its forms – in generating architectural responses that remain sensitive to what each situation offers, and to how architecture can preserve, enhance, reinterpret, heal, nurture, or remember.

Her professional activity spans education, research, and practice. She teaches design studios, mentors diploma projects, and leads research initiatives, while also publishing studies and articles. She serves on the territorial council of the Bucharest Order of Architects, acts as president or member of various juries, and organizes competitions, workshops, conferences, and exhibitions. Throughout her work, she remains committed to promoting a culturally grounded vision of architecture.
