PEDEVILLA ARCHITEKTEN, Italy
Matteo Bolgan (b. 1990) graduated from the Iuav University of Architecture in Venice in 2016. During his studies, he collaborated with various architectural firms in Italy and Spain, including Studio Rigo, Andrés Perea Arquitecto, Cecchetto & Associati, and Carlana Mezzalira Pentimalli. Since 2017, he has been Project Manager at the architectural studio Pedevilla Architekten in Bruneck, Italy. His design approach is based on a dialogue between local conditions, “tradition,” and the specific demands of each project.
Armin and Alexander Pedevilla graduated in Architecture from the University of Graz. Driven by a passion for Alpine architecture, they returned to South Tyrol in 2005 to establish Pedevilla Architekten, which has since gained a strong international reputation. For Pedevilla, architecture means a conscious approach to social, cultural, economic, and ecological aspects of everyday life. Integrating buildings into the local built environment is equally important as considering temperature and local climate. They focus on material life cycles, sustainability, and traditional craftsmanship, respecting the fact that materials live and evolve over time.
Their work has received numerous awards:
- Chalet de Pedevila in Pliscia: 13 awards and nominations (2013–2018).
- Kochakademie-Bad Schörgau (2018): AIT Award and Holzbaupreis Südtirol.
- Fire station in Taufers: German Design Award 2018, Materialpreis Award 2017, Iconic Award 2017.
- Fire station Vierschach: German Design Award 2017, Iconic Award 2016, The Plan Award 2016.
