
Matevž Popič
Matevž Popič studied the industrial design at the Academy of the Fine Arts in Ljubljana. Graduates in the year 2016 with conceptual project- Multifunctional built in oven for the brand Gorenje. From 2009 to 2021, he was a member of the Gorenje Design Studio. He spent seven years as Senior Lead Designer for the Cooking category and five years as Head of Design Pre-development and Cross-category Design for the Gorenje brand. From 2022 he is the Head of product design in Hisense Gorenje Europe, responsible for Hisense and Gorenje brand. Together with internal and external teams, he continuously improves the experience with products and services. Primarily by defining the relevance of product features, developing sustainable platforms, creating integrated content solutions, ensuring product integration into various environments, and enhancing connectivity and assistance with AI technologies.
The Hisense Gorenje design department plays an important strategic role and is responsible for multi-brand designs in the field of home appliances, along with integrating smart home solutions. Design and innovation are recognized as key factors for achieving a competitive advantage in the already saturated market for white goods. The department has a long tradition and extensive experience in the development of household appliances. Its design tradition dates back to 1963, when the company hired its first professional designer. With 75 years of experience in designing products for the global appliance market, the team possesses excellent knowledge of the design process. Today, the design department is strategically integrated into the heart of the company and its brands. Its design process is guided by a user-centered approach, which enables a deep understanding of users and the creation of a comprehensive user experience.
