Maria Claudia Clemente
LABICS, Italy
Maria Claudia Clemente and Francesco Isidori founded the Labics architecture firm in Rome in 2004. The firm boasts numerous successes in competitions and project designs, where they discover new strategies for revitalizing degraded urban areas and developing public spaces. Because of their innovative projects, the American magazine Architectural Record named them one of the most important firms emerging on the global architectural scene.
They have exhibited three times at the Venice Biennale. They have been nominated twice for the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award, most recently this year for their high-profile project to revitalise the Roman district of La città del Sole, where they used a system of multifunctional buildings to build a strong local identity and create new momentum in a degraded area.
