Founded in Berlin in 1996, J. Mayer H. Architects focuses on projects at the intersection of architecture, communications, and new technologies. Among their recent projects are the Duli.Casa villa near Ludwigsburg, Germany; Metropol Parasol, a renovation of the Plaza de la Encarnacion in Seville, Spain; and the JOH3 residential building in Berlin, Germany.
The firm has also completed several public and infrastructure projects in Georgia, including the airport in Mestia, the border crossing in Sarpi, and two motorway rest areas in Gori. When designing new structures in space, the office draws on the relationship between the human body, technology, and nature, both for urban projects and buildings as well as for installation projects and structures made of new materials.
The founder and head of this interdisciplinary office is Jürgen Mayer H. He studied at the University of Stuttgart, Princeton, and Cooper Union, and his work is included in numerous collections, including the MoMa in New York and San Francisco. Among the national and international awards he has received to date, special mention should be made of the Mies van der Rohe Award Emerging Architect Special Mention 2003. Jürgen Mayer H. has taught at Princeton University, the Berlin University of the Arts, Harvard University, the Kunsthochschule Berlin, the Architectural Association in London, Columbia University in New York, and the University of Toronto in Canada.
