Jens Thomas Arnfred
Tegnestuen Vandkunsten, Denmark
The Danish architectural studio Tegnestuen Vandkunsten was founded in 1970 by architects Svend Algren, Jens Thomas Arnfred, Michael Sten Johnsen, and Steffen Kragh.
Forty years later, they are still primarily concerned with the quality of residential buildings, especially non-profit and social housing, although they are active in all areas of architecture and their projects can be found in Denmark, Scandinavia, and elsewhere in Europe.
Jens Thomas Arnfred is one of the founders and directors of the Tegnestuen Vandkunsten studio. Together with his partners, he has received more than 60 first prizes in national, Nordic, and international competitions, including the Alvar Aalto Medal for 2009. He has been nominated four times for the Mies van der Rohe Award. Since 1980, he has been an external examiner at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Architecture in Copenhagen.
