Huang Huaihai holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Architecture from Tsinghua University, Beijing. He has been with China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute Corp. Ltd. (CSWADI) since 2008. He serves as the Vice Chief Architect of the institute, the Executive Director of the East China Innovation and Creation Design and R&D Center (Shanghai Branch), and the Director and Chief Architect of Forward Studio (Chengdu). He is a First-Class Registered Architect in China, a Council Member of both the Architects Branch and the Urban Design Branch of the Architectural Society of China, and an external graduate supervisor at Chongqing University and Hunan University.

Since entering the profession, he has been deeply engaged in architectural design, focusing on rationality while maintaining a thoughtful and humble approach in the studio. Throughout the design process, he prioritizes feasibility, sustainability, and adaptability in response to changing development needs. His architectural work integrates new buildings into their local environments, reflecting regional characteristics and cultural context through an understanding of local customs and traditional architectural styles.

Additionally, he enhances the spatial value of his projects through meticulous quality control of architectural spaces and details. His goal is to foster an organic dialogue between city and architecture, space and behaviour, and economy and sustainability across diverse architectural practices in various regions.
