The Horizon Education Center transforms a vacant commercial space into a part-time learning hub for elementary school children aged 5 – 10. This vibrant and mystically laid-out space is designed to spark curiosity, encouraging children to explore diverse learning environments that contribute to their long-term development and build their confidence in venturing into new territories.
The project’s mission is to challenge the sterile, intimidating classrooms typical of public schools, replacing them with stimulating, dynamic spaces that inspire kids to explore, learn, and think creatively. Upon entering the center, children are greeted by a labyrinth-like hallway leading to various themed classrooms.
The center features five themed classrooms, each tailored to a specific concept:
- TOKA (Earth)
- UJI (Water)
- GJITHËSIA (Space)
- AVENTURA (Adventure)
- ARTI (Arts)
Additionally, there’s a play area called XHUNGLA (Jungle), where children can engage in relaxing activities like yoga or darts. Special attention has been given to the kitchen and dining spaces, which boast large windows that let in ample natural light and establish a close connection with the outdoors.
The interiors are characterized by abundant natural light, warm wooden flooring, and a pastel color palette, creating a cheerful and inviting setting for learning, play, and relaxation. This design fosters a sense of sustainability and well-being, promoting a holistic approach to childhood education.
