Daniel Niggli

EM2N, Switzerland

The Zurich-based architecture studio EM2N was founded in 1997 by Mathias Müller and Daniel Niggli. Their desire is to work primarily on projects that have a strong, personal, distinctive character. As a result, public opinion on the studio’s projects is often divided, but this does not bother Müller and Niggli in the slightest. “You can love or hate our architecture, but you can never pass it by without noticing it!”

They are also convinced that there is only one solution, so their projects must be able to cope with the unexpected, even the random. They approach projects with the help of scenarios, work through hypotheses, and develop conflicting alternatives.

Mathias Müller lectures as a guest professor at the prestigious Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and the institute in Lausanne (ETH). Daniel Niggli, a member of the Berlin Baukollegium, also lectures as a guest professor at ETHZ in Zurich and ETH in Lausanne.
