Long-established business sectors are often burdened with stereotypes that persist over many years, which can hinder their ability to serve their clients effectively. The finance industry is a prime example of this. Companies such as the Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF) are working to challenge these stereotypes by not only presenting themselves in a new light and showcasing the diverse people who work with them, but also by redefining what they deliver. One of Kragelj’s projects for CEF was to transform the entrance hall and reception area of their main building, which is adjacent to the lecture halls and meeting rooms. They both agreed that first impressions matter, and the new space needed to signal that CEF was not a traditional finance organization, but rather one that shared their clients’ goals and focused on flexibility and mentoring. The result of the project is a bright, open, and welcoming space that encourages people to use it in the ways that suit them best. Its adaptability to their ever-changing needs is one of its most important features.
