Alfons Shtjefni

Arkpro Studio , Albania

My name is Alfons Shtjefni, and I am an architect driven by the belief that every project is aresearch and unique. Born in Shkodër, Albania, in 1983, my architectural path has taken me from the studios of world-renowned architects to the founding of my own practice, where I continue to shape environments that speak to both function and emotion.

I hold a degree from the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland, where I had the privilege of studying under influential figures such as Mario Botta, Peter Zumthor, Bearth, and Francis Soler. My thesis, titled “ALBTRANSIT,” was developed under the mentorship of Mario Botta himself. These formative academic experiences deeply influenced my architectural philosophy—anchored in clarity, material honesty, and respect for context.

Professionally, I have had the opportunity to work in internationally acclaimed studios including Peter & Osvald Zumthor, Matti Ragaz Hitz (MRH), Fratelli Marazzi, and Gaggini Studio. These engagements allowed me to refine my approach across a range of architectural scales and cultural settings, blending Swiss precision with Mediterranean sensibility.

In Albania, I am the founder and lead architect of ARKPRO Studio, a firm based in Tirana focused on contemporary, research-based architectural solutions. Our work spans residential, institutional, and public projects, including the Linza Complex, Don Bosko Schools, and the Black Bird Solution. Alongside my professional practice, I contribute to academic development as an architect at the Lady of Good Counsel University.

I am fluent in Albanian, Italian, and English, and have working knowledge of French and German. I am also proficient in a variety of design and technical tools including Revit, VectorWorks, AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office. My design process is rooted in dialogue between space and user, tradition and innovation, detail and vision.

Architecture, to me, is not just about buildings it’s about shaping experiences. I remain committed to crafting spaces that are thoughtful, lasting, and human-centered.
