St. Georg Industrial Design, Austria
Industrial design, as we understand it, is not art, nor is it a creative act focused solely on styling or superficial beautification. Industrial design is a craft that combines knowledge from a wide range of disciplines, including technology, emotion, aesthetics, psychology, and economics. “Beautiful or not beautiful — that’s in the eye of the beholder.” These are not the categories in which we think. Aesthetics is just one product function among many other criteria that a successful product must meet.
Our industry is about designing solutions — solutions for our customers and their customers. This is the only way to achieve a well-rounded outcome in the end. We act as mediators between the often rigid boundaries of different specialist departments within companies. We can communicate effectively with marketing or sales experts just as easily as with development engineers and production technicians.
Design is about optimization — it strengthens the brand and improves product functionality. Since 2011, we have been supporting the design agendas of many long-standing customers, primarily small and medium-sized companies from Austria and neighboring countries. In recent years, we have guided well over a hundred products to international markets.
