The client has a clear vision of playing a vibrant space that immediately leads us to envision a space to remember Bauhaus and mid century, that could potentially meet the generation. This is a double storey linked house with modern façade design, residing among 112 houses community. It is a house with approximately 1.500 square feet, 4 rooms, with 3 bathrooms. Although a modern layout, the space was filled with many walls and separations, which makes the space stressful to live with. We understand and explore every possibility with the user on how they could land living with.
The priority challenge is to expand the volume of space; we open up the walls in first floor bedroom and ground floor to bridge the volume, even indirectly draw patio at the back as part of visible interior volume by shade covering. By employing the late architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s technique of compression and expansion, we capsule unfolds into an open, flowing space, one of the period’s hallmarks. In ground floor, the arresting foyer is wrapped in handmade scarlet tiles, cherry-hued cabinets with ruddy discs, and a marble floor with perforated line patterns. It’s a combination that has a way of pulling you in and suspending reality. Upon transitioning bigger volume living and dining space, a noticeable play of red, blue, and yellow started to drive while complimenting with iconic pieces of furniture.
