STUDIO UP, established by Toma Plejić and Lea Pelivan in 2003, is based in Zagreb and is mostly engaged in contemporary architecture and urbanism. In spite of its short existence, the office has been awarded quite a few times and their most notable award is the 2009 Mies Van Der Rohe Prize – Emerging Architect Special Mention for their Grammar School in Koprivnica (2007). They represented Croatia at the Venice Biennale with the ‘Frameworks’ pavilion in 2004, and with the floating pavilion (‘pavilion.hr‘) in 2010. In addition, STUDIO UP participated at the 2nd & 3rd Rotterdam biennale and Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture with ‘Gizmo’ pavilion for the ‘Ultra-Light Village’ Exhibition in 2012. STUDIO UP also took part in Ivan Rupnik’s book ‘A Peripheral Moment: Experiments in Architectural Agency: Croatia 1990-2010’.
