Vassil Jivkov is a university professor and Head of the Interior and Furniture Design Department at the University of Forestry in Sofia, Bulgaria. He specializes in integrating furniture design with engineering and has recently focused on sustainable design using thin structural elements. As a jury member for various design competitions, he has received numerous accolades, including the platinum award at the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN AWARDS, the EUROPEAN PRODUCT DESIGN AWARD, the BRONZE A’ DESIGN AWARD, and the BULGARIAN FURNITURE OF THE YEAR.

Prof. Jivkov has authored several books on furniture design and construction, published over 150 scientific articles, and holds multiple patents and designs. An expert in material science and furniture design, he serves on the scientific committees of numerous international conferences. Additionally, he is the chairman of the Bulgarian Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry and a board member of the European Furniture Industry Confederation (EFIC).
