In 2017 Irene established ‘Scattery Island Tours’ in 2017. This service provides a daily ferry transfer and guided walking tours of the historic Scattery Island, located just off the coast of Kilrush, in Co. Clare. Irene’s father was one of the last children to be born on this now uninhabited Island and she spent much of her childhood exploring this island with her father listening to his stories of growing up there as a child. Her strong family connection with this island, along with her passion for this special area of conservation has formed the basis for the development of the Scattery Island Tours brand. The logo itself was designed to encompass the many historic sights at the island features, which date back as far as the 5th century, and the website and marketing focuses on sharing the many rich stories that this island holds.
