SEE in Venice
Venice at BIG Architecture
Synergies for 2027

Twenty-one South-East European (SEE) countries are participating at the Venice Architectural Biennale 2025, similarly as they have in its previous editions.

This year, however, BIG SEE is watching, even if not in the Orwellian big brotherly way. Our goal is that by exploring individual countries’ showings we help them plan and execute a more visible and thus more efficient performance at the world’s preeminent architectural superevent.

In the months before the Venice opening (May 10, 2025), BIG SEE media will publish a series of articles and interviews by a group of experts led by Slovenian architect, urban designer, and publicist Aleksander Vujović. These will monitor the development of SEE countries’ projects for Venice, all designed and built in response to Curator Carlo Ratti’s theme, Intelligens, which explores architecture’s role in addressing the climate crisis through natural, artificial, and collective intelligence.

The contributions will culminate in a major event at BIG Architecture 2025 (May 22-23) in Portorož, where we will present our findings. SEE national representatives and authors of the showcased projects will gather for a regional roundtable to present their insights and reflect on their participation. The discussion will focus on fostering regional collaboration and improving SEE countries’ collective performance at Venice 2027.

BIG SEE will serve as a bridge, tracking SEE contributions to Intelligens and presenting key insights at BIG Architecture 2025.
