Emma Olbers Design, Sweden

Emma Olbers is a Swedish designer with focus on sustainability. She is the founder of Stockholm based design studio Emma Olbers Design.
Olbers has worked as a furniture designer, interior designer and creative director for the last 25 years.

She believes that sustainability and product life – cycles are key concerns and she strives to incorporate it into her work. Olbers wants to design good products – good in all aspects, including being good for our planet. She tries to design products with as low carbon
emissions as possible, preferably made from renewable or recycled materials, carefully produced to last for a long time. Her design principles are based on the Planetary boundaries and focus on material and circularity.

Amongst her clients are brands such as Asplund, Eldvarm, Skultuna, Tre Sekel and Vestre. Recently she has designed the outdoor sofa Tellus for Norwegian Vestre, made in 100% fossil-free steel from Swedish SSAB. In 2024 she also finished the interior of Ersta new
Hospital together with architectual firm Tengbom, a new hospital in Stockholm of 25,000 square meters. At the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023 she made the exhibition; Now or never – 1kg CO2e, an exhibition about the invisible climate impact of our furniture, and about the
power of choice.

In February 2024, she received the Elle Deco Design Awards – Design towards Zero for always putting the climate first when designing and showing the way to a sustainable future.
Her outdoor sofa Tellus received Design of the Year for the future by Bo Bedre. Olbers was named Designer of the Year in 2018 by RUM magazine and in 2020 by Elle Decoration
