Luís Rebelo de Andrade was born in Lisbon, in 1953. He began his professional career in sculpture, which later became influential in his work, which relates architecture with different forms of artistic expression. In 1986 he graduated with distinction in Architecture, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. Already during his studies, he developed projects with Intergaup, a nationally and internationally awarded architecture office.
In 1989 he started his own practice, and was soon recognized in the Portuguese architectural scene with the projects such as the British Embassy (1990) or Casa do Artista (1991), in Lisbon.
He has developed projects with diversified uses, within very different contexts, requiring specific and individualized approaches. The long years of experience, in places of great historical or ecological relevance, such as the historic center of Lisbon or the Pedras Salgadas Natural Park, have provided with a vast know-how, allowing for more assertive answers to the different issues that have arisen through out the years of practice.
The work developed by RA\\ Rebelo de Andrade is defined in the confluence of two essential components: respect for the client and respect for the landscape, and it is in this conciliation that its effectiveness and versatility are expressed. Architecture is a multidisciplinary activity where technical sophistication and cost management are essential. However, Architecture is simultaneously an art, and this should never be forgotten. The ability to unite all these attributes as well as the ability to execute them, according to good professionalism, has resulted in almost three decades of fully accomplished projects.
In a moment of rapid and intense globalization, where the true foundations of our activity are so often forgotten, we work continuously to implement and strengthen our presence, producing high quality work.
