Clara Stones Coral concept store; Marita Bonačić, Katarina Perić, Negra Nigoević│BIG SEE Awards 2018

Inspired by the ample history of old Dubrovnik and the eternity of coral, we have been introduced to the story of fantasy on the edge of animate and inanimate. The new concept of the store presents us the wondrous sea creatures and visual feast where courses of jewellery are served. Tasteful jewellery is jewellery full of flavour always made from all-natural organic materials (precious metals, various types of precious and semi-precious stones) with the house specialty: magical sea creature – coral.

The visual part consists of vintage characters of female heads and the sea creatures, that wear corals and other jewellery that act as if they are alive and vital part of their bodies. It seems like corals come alive. Female characters are Clara: illustrated vision of the brand and women who wear Clara stones. Black and white illustration combined with photograph of the coral, while highlighting the environmental component and the ability to enter under the skin of anyone who looks at it.

The space has been designed as an amazing display of two different lives of corals: life among the flora and fauna and then life of serving carefully designed jewellery through the concept of feast.

The concept store is treated as a place where jewellery is presented through a search of flavour/taste that best suits each visitor. Visitors are called in to try and taste, the same way that the inanimate models taste pieces of jewellery while commenting it as a dish and delicious meal.

A two-level store is presented thematically – the undersea world on the ground floor and decadent feast on the first floor. Between the floors there is a wooden branch that is partly trapped also in the showcases. The prevailing colouring is bright and grey. The only colour that appears and is used as a colour basis is a medium grey colour of the floor, while the rest of interior is white in different materials and textures.

The focus is on lighting features on the ground floor that make a light installation which resembles marine organisms. The disposition of specially designed jewellery displays follows the contours of the underwater world and is organized into “flocks”.

Jewellery is displayed with its round openings and circular and oval shapes, resembling water bubbles and served banquet plates.

Into the compositions of walls circular concave and convex mirrors have been integrated that by distorted reflections create an impression of partial underwater movement. In niches appear folding mirrors that represent bodies of strange characters, while the hand mirrors have been conducted in the form of plates and platters.

Inside the space also appear kitchen towels stacked for the feast. They are filled with brand visuals and characters from Clara coral fantasy.

Ship rope as a handrail leads us to the first floor where the lighting is richly indented through the whole ceiling.

Presentation wall is full of displays which reminds of the set table full of jewellery ready to be tasted. For serving there are bowls transferred into bells for desserts that keep the freshness of jewellery.
